SPA: Pool opening expected Friday
July 14th, 2008
The folks over at Save the Victoria Pool Society are more than a little perturbed that Saratoga Spa State Park’s Peerless Pool remains shuttered halfway through the summer.
But park manager Michael Greenslade said today the group will be able to rest, er swim, a little easier come this weekend.
Parks staff are planning to open Peerless’ large pool — but not the slide or kiddie pools – on Friday, assuming water tests come back OK, he said.
So far, the Victoria Pool – the small, historic pool down the road – has reached capacity only a handful of times, Greenslade said.
“People have been bearing with it and taken it pretty well,” he said.

Why do Louise Goldstein and her followers get special treatment? This past Sunday I watched as they commandeered two or three tables on the deck, served food, wore street clothes and street shoes and I saw Louise Goldstein smoking right there in her chair on the deck. That is a direct violation of at least four rules on that list in the cashier's station. Why didn't anyone enforce the rules! This society doesn't deserve any special allowances. These actions only prove how self centered this group is and how they don't give a damn about anyone or anything but themselves.

So let me guess which one of the three other people at the pool were you Hazel? If by commanderred you mean using 2 or 3 of the empty 7 or 8 tables at noon when it rained intermittently, hazel? I also believe as soon as the weather looked less threatening everyone changed into bathing suits, hazel. I also believe everyone paid to be there and were happy to do so even though it may only have been for an hour or two. Those are real troopers, hazel.
First off all that's Mrs. Valetta to you. Second, you can make all the excuses you want but I didn't once see you say anything about the great Louise Goldstein just sitting on the deck having a smoke? Talk your way out of that one...!
Oh, excuse me...Mrs.Valletta!
yes, I know. I'm concerned about keeping Louise healthy for a long time as I'm sure you are too.
I hope she quits soon and thank you for your concern.
she still has so much work to do.
I don't give a damn about her health I want to know why she gets to do it on the deck and not in the regular spot where everyone else does.
And learn how to spell before you respond to someone's name!
For all her hard work it should eventually be known as the Lousie J. Goldstein Memorial Pool Deck (eons from now we all hope)There should be a gold lounge chair and maybe a historic statue, as we all know it was her and her society that got the pool the way it is..
She should also make something with all those wristbands. It would be enchanting to see.
That's a wonderful idea. We can put a little sign next to where her cigarette ashes are.
Putting aside the rantings of Mrs. Valetta and Anonymous, she did have one valid point that you seem to be avoiding, why should you get special treatment?

I've noticed that the "society" tends to build a compound out of lounges and umbrellas toward the northeast portion of the deck and then migrate to Catherine's or the bar or pats unknown. But I don't care. I've spoken to a few of them and they are very nice, when they're in the mood. I remember one time they even offered to share some of their goodies that they bring, usually on closing day.
They're better than the transient crew of sometimes loud and obnoxious men, well past their prime, that sets up camp on the opposite side of the pool. They're Okay, too.

Why wait? Joe Bruno gets stuff named after him while he remains in this mortal coil! Despite what her detractors say, without her, the VIctoria Pool would still be in a state of neglect and disrepair.
Hello I am one of Louise's detractors. I would like to say that you are full of horse feathers because she didn't do a damn thing. Show me one tangible example of something she's done...besides whine. And then after she allegedly saved it from neglect and disrepair she has the gaul to sit right on the pool deck and smoke. That's disgusting and speaks volumes.
