Rumor has it Saratoga Spa State Park is planning to shut down the immensely popular Dog Park on the other side of the Route 9 Avenue of Pines entrance because of the Karner Blue butterflys. With 2500 acres why isn't there room for both? Our tax dollars NOT at work again?

In answer to our question...it because the dogs can be trained where to go (but often are free ranging) and the butterflies can not be trained....
You say in your story, "With 2500 acres why isn't there room for both?" I think that's exactly the point. With such a big park, why to people have to walk their dogs in an area inhabited by one Federally listed and one State listed endangered butterfly? The butterflies have no place to go; dogs do.
Parks are for pools, people and their dogs!!
And so that means you have to exterminate, remove or trample over all other living creatures that were probably on the land before you were?
Wait a minute folks, this argument is worth having but not here on this blog. Since when do these Victoria Pool idiots give a damn about anything other than themselves.
Why cant they co-exist Dogs+Butterflies= Beauty and love in the natural environment.
You have never printed one single thing on this blog that wasn't your clouded opinion. Why should we believe such a rumor even exists?
The rumor is not true.
Of course it isn't...when is anything on this blog ever a fact?
It was in the newspaper that the dog park is closing.
No it wasn't. Nice try.
This blog is false!! It is a lie!! Nothing on here is true!! it should be called the SaratogaGossip.blogspot....
We were notified by elected officials and many other concerned citizens that rumor had it the dog park at saratoga spa state park was closing. It was neither our idea nor do we have a dog. We need other than Anonymous confirmation that the dog park will remain open.
I don't know you have been labeled in the papers from time to time as the park's watchdogs. I guess you need some place to hang out.
I would just like to point out that it is NOT A DOG PARK. It is a patch of land that the Karner Blue Butterfly got to first...after they were there some invaders came in and started letting their dogs and pets run around. So to refer to it as a dog park is an erroneous and ignorant comment.
yes let stvps sunbath themselves and take up chairs there. Maybe parks could dig them a pit and we could fill it with water, it could double as a ice skating rink
First you say it was in the newspaper, then you back up when called on that lie and say it was elected officials who called you. Well have you ever thought that they might benefit from lying to you? (If you ever really got a call from them is still questionable in my mind) Why not call the real sources, the people in charge of the park and ask them? You would rather besmirch because of a rumor rather then be productive and really give the news.
The people who are taking their dogs in there without a leash are the ones who are in danger. They will be ticketed and could face prosecution for destroying habitat of a FEDERALLY endangered species. How do you like them apples?
