I count five people in the water and one lifeguard...

There were more lifeguards not on the beach.

You have reached a new low!

Some people just can't handle the truth

Anonymous said...

As soon as someone publishes some truth on this blog I'll see if I can handle it. Right now all I see is a beach with a lifeguard on it. And STVPS's word that there were several others around...and we all know how much their word is worth.

And now they're going up to Moreau to spy on lifeguards....pathetic. Of course that is good, more people should be taking advantage of the open beaches. Since the pools don't open until June 27th...the way it should be.

Next time take a picture of five life guards’ playing cards on the picnic table. And you wonder why New York State is in a budget crisis.

Ben lives on said...

I think Anonymous is a Park Administrator.

Hell hath no fury like a bureaucrat scorned.

Anonymous said...

Why is that George? You think the only people smart enough to see what a bunch of nonsense this whole society stands for are park administrators? Now that's insulting...please don't think that every patron is as small minded as you and this group you have chosen to follow. No, I'm not in anyway employed by the state now I'm sure you won't believe me but then again who gives a damn. I am also not blind or stupid and four years after the Victoria Pool has been repaired you and this bunch still make trouble. I feel very sorry for you all.

They love to spend money. I will cue you in on how this works. Politicians bring in line item expenditures this is called pork. The money is funneled to the politician’s favorite contractor who either directly or indirectly helps the politician or his friends and or his family. This is what we call corruption. The painting in the SPAC amphitheatre that peeled off and the dangerous and slippery deck around the pool are good examples.

Our leaders are very good at this because there is something in it for them.

What they are not good at is providing services to the people who pay for all of this the taxpayer.

Why? Because there is nothing in it for them.

How do I know all of this? I was once a very small pawn in all of this and saw very closely how it is carried out. We are lucky to have watch dog groups to try to keep an eye on this or it would be much worse.

You must never forget the state works for us. Without a public there is no Parks. Some people would like the public to be sheep but the flock seems to have had enough.

I am afraid government workers are in for a rough ride if I were you I’d get used to it or move to the private sector, I hear some cops in Saratoga are doing just that already.

Sounds like you're just bitter and brainwashed to me there George!

Ben lives on said...

Bitter not at all. I must admit I do find you amusing. The thought of you so angry that a mere mortal would question the wise and all powerful government is downright hilarious.

Anonymous said...

Well, anytime idiocy and lies attack something so pure and innocent and unimportant I always say something. You don't think that you and this clown society are victims do you? You people that hide under the bed in fear of this "all powerful government" need professional help.

Ben lives on said...

“attack something so pure and innocent”

Well forgive me I didn’t know the parks were really vestal virgins. I hope my filthy hands have not soiled their pureness.

Anonymous said...

You never know...you did get carried away.

Anonymous said...

George and Anonymous took off on a nice little side trip there but could we pull back for a moment. What was the original point of this posting? What statement are you making? The Victoria Pool isn't open because all the lifeguards are at Moreau Lake?

Anonymous said...

Last time I checked, a lake doesn't require a constant flow of chlorine.
Your beautiful pool does.
With the amount of patrons who would actually go there in these next few weeks, there's no way it would cover that expense.
Better luck next year.

Ben lives on said...

I find it a little amusing that a town like Ballston Spa that is in the middle of a budget crisis, that laid of its police dispatchers, could still open their pool, not on time but early. I guess they can run a cost effective program, something the state seems incapable of doing. The parks shrink every year and the Park administrators grow every year. It would seem they have their priories backward.

Ben lives on said...

Let’s see a lake does require a boat a boat house loudspeakers lake rescues. Not to mention the cleaning of the public facilities of sand.

Anonymous said...

I'm pretty sure the boat, boat house, and loudspeakers are all items that the park already had for possibly several years and that they don't continue to add additional expense based on how often they're used...chlorine on the other hand does.

What do lake rescues have to do with cost?

And public facilities need to be cleaned reguardless of where they are located.

Not sure where you were going with any of those points.

And before you accuse me of working for the state, or being a park administrator, I'm not. I just have some level of common sense. Rare on this blog, I know.

Ben lives on said...

The point is they need more manpower so more expense. I still can’t believe that this is a budget issue when they have 6 life guards at the lake which is open 7 days a week by the way, and they can’t afford to open the pool on weekends only. I also believe with the bulk buying power of the state the price of chorine is not the issue any more than the price of gas is an issue in gulf coarse lawn mowers.

They just can’t be bothered. Why would they, the pool is a pain to run. They get paid the same open or not, just one less headache for them.

You know what they say “Parks is a great place to work if it wasn’t for the darn public wanting to use them.”

Anonymous said...

It looks like Louise is about to be replaced. Sounds like George is becoming the new park addict.

Ben lives on said...

Government’s functions best when watchdogs keep an eye on them. Nothing breeds corruption more than an apathetic public.

Anonymous said...

Yes but aren't you afraid of looking just as pathetic as the rest of these pool wackos.

Ben lives on said...

The only thing pathetic are people who believe this is the best our government can do. If you are willing to settle for such mediocrity from parks I wonder what you expect our police and fireman to be.

Anonymous said...

Get rid of the Governor that you and your fellow pool lovers help put in there. Him and that slimeball Spitzer were so loved by all you people and then wham. You're getting exactly what you deserve.

Ben lives on said...

All us people? Last I new Patterson was your Governor too. Do you deserve him also?

Anonymous said...

Absolutely not...I didn't vote for that ticket. You see now that the entire past two years have been an absolute disgrace everyone is embarrassed to admit that they voted for those two creeps. He's no Governor of mine.

Anonymous said...

What in hell is wrong with you both? You having a ridiculous argument on this stupid blog of all places. Where's VictoriusVictorian's foolishness when you need it? He probably changed his name to George.

Anonymous said...

The way you're all behaving is so disgusting. You deserve to be charged $8 to swim. Grow up!

Ben lives on said...

Tell me if this blog is "ridiculous" and "stupid' why do you read it or care what people write?

Anonymous said...

It's simple George, the Spa State Park is a masterpiece and people that wrongfully attack it make me very angry.

Ben lives on said...

Actually I agree with you the park is a masterpiece, in spite of all the park administration attempts to destroy it.

Anonymous said...

We can only hope that the brainwashing stops George and you are able to move on. Because I don't see anything being destroyed. You obviously have some personal bitterness that is forcing you to attack this way.

Ben lives on said...

Why must you always claim someone who questions government waste is bitter? If you came home and your spouse or children were burning your hard earned money in your driveway would you become upset? Would that make you bitter? The money the state is burning by incompetence is your money. If you don’t care fine, but I do.

Once again the public owns the Parks, not the employees. They aren’t doing us any favors by just doing there jobs. I wish the Saratogian would print the salaries of the part employees, like they do for city workers and school teachers. In fact the state should make public on the net all state salaries. We the taxpayers are the boss, we have every right to know our employees salaries

Anonymous said...

Because it's true...you see now you're into that whole conspiracy nonsense. What government waste? Not opening a pool? How many days this past week would you have gone swimming? Stop embarassing yourself George it's not flattering at all. Obviously I struck a nerve. Good! You bullies need to stop and think about the hateful venom you spew time after time.

Ben lives on said...

I do not seek to be "flattered"and you couldn't strike a nerve with a dental drill. I understand you like to talk down to anyone who questions your beloved park employees so I would think you would want us to see what these noble and underpaid simple civil servants make,

Anonymous said...

You need just give it up George...you have no position. Your hatred is clouding your judgment.

Ben lives on said...

Anonymous I am afraid there is only one person in out little chat who is full of anger and that person isn’t me.

Anonymous said...

It certainly isn't me...not totally anyway. Your nonsense makes me angry but I'm not the one always looking over my shoulder worrying about big bad state park wolves that are about to attack. However, I know a lost cause when I see it.

Ben lives on said...

Its not the state park wolves I worry about, its the state tax wolves and city tax wolves and school tax wolves that frighten the hell out of me and frankly unless you live in public housing with a tax free pension I’d would hope you’d be a little concerned too. I just don’t see why we get so little back from our taxes.

0ne and a half million for some slippery tile but they can only “afford” to be open two months.

THe Sagamore in Lake George is building three new pools in the 'front yard' (the land leading down from the hotel to the dock.) There will be no lifeguards hired.

Signs will be placed saying, "Swim at your on risk."

Could that be done at the VP ?

Anonymous said...

I agree with you, I think they spent too much money on the pool too.

Ula said...

They didn't do the half of what was necessary to bring the pool up to snuff. It is old and was neglected for so long, that to properly overhaul it would have required much more than the then Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro was able to cough up. There are still major problems w/its infrastructure that a lot more money is needed to fix. In addition, some aspects of the upgrade weren't done well and needed redoing; another waste of taxpayers' money; and we wonder why this occurred???

If you naysayers do not find the VP worthy of this grass-roots effort, by all means, go out and find one that does and do a service to society that you do believe in. But please stop putting down this one, a worthwhile one, that its supporters fervently believe in: saving a WPA project, a historical Saratoga Springs treasure.

This society is worthless and not needed that is why anyone with a brain puts it down.
