You bothered the Mayor of Saratoga Springs because your precious swimming hole isn't going to open on Memorial Day? Reaching a new low I see.

Last time we checked Saratoga Spa State Park was located in Saratoga Springs. Mayor Johnson is the 4th Saratoga Mayor we have met with since we started in 2003.

Being somewhat new in town, I have only visited the Victoria pool once. I found it to be a great facility! The landscaping is beautiful...bravo! The architecture is nothing short of magnificent, and I applaud your group for maintaining and preserving such a historical treasure.

I would like to get more involved. When is the next workday or restoration project? I admit to being a bit confused, as downstate it is typically the Parks Dept. which is mandated to "restore, maintain and preserve," their own facilities. How did your group manage get access to maintenance and restoration projects? Very good work folks!

Boy you really are new in town, this "society" didn't lift a finger to do any of the physical work and restoration. All they did was flap their lips. And if they say otherwise they're a damn liar.

I think that the pool society should do more volunteer work at the pool. it could save so much money for the Parks, maybe it could finally be open earlier.

Save the Victoria Pool Society has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Victoria Pool and Saratoga Spa State Park 100% at its own expense for the past 5 yrs.

I did not intend to cause a problem. I only hope someone will post the date of the next volunteer work project sponsored by the Society.

I would love to hear the date of the next Save The Victoria Pool Society-Sponsored volunteer day, also. When are we going to "tirelessly" work to improve the pool, Louise?

Does the silence of SVPS mean that they don't have volunteer days? How, exactly are you saving the pool here, if all you have is a free online blog and a free online petition?

I would love to work on a volunteer project!
When is your next volunteer day, SVPS?

If Anonymous really wants to roll up his/her sleeves and volunteer at the park, he/she should contact the Friends of Saratoga Spa State Park at www.saratogaspastatepark.org. They are the true "Friends" of the park and have done a great deal of work to improve the tennis courts and the Hathorn #3 spring. They do more than provide lip service and whine.

Friends of the the Saratoga Spa State Park does not even list the swimming pools under its Park Attractions.

If you read carefully, you will see that the "attractions" are features that are in the park run by other organizations. (contrary to what you may believe, you do not run the pool). The pools are listed under information & activities.

It seems that you will fish for anything that makes yourselves look good while avoiding commenting on the truth.

I can only hope that anyone looking for volunteer opportunities seek out the Friends.

There's a good reason for that I'm sure. They probably figure since you have your claws sunk into them (the Victoria anyway) they should stay clear. That way they won't ruin their solid reputation by being mixed in with your crackpot "society."
